2. Autologen injections. During this procedure, collagen is taken from another part of the patient’s skin, which is usually removed during another procedure, such as a tummy tuck. Collagen is extracted from the skin, sterilized and liquefied for re-injection. It is then injected into their lips. Because it is the patient’s own collagen, autologen injections typically do not require an allergy test.
3. Patient’s own fat from another area of the body. In this instance, a syringe is used to collect fat from other parts of the patient’s body, such as the buttocks or thighs. The harvested fat cells are then injected into the lips. Because the fat is the patient’s own, there is no allergic or immune system reaction.
4. Restylane injections. Another option for those with allergies and skin sensitivities is Restylane, which does not use animal-based materials. Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in your body and serves to hydrate and cushion tissue. Restylane is a clear hyaluronic acid gel that is completely compatible with your body’s natural hyaluronic acid, so it doesn’t require an allergy test.
